WHITE ORCHID DENTAL

IMPLANT DENTISTRY

Dental implants offer the opportunity to replace missing teeth with ones that look, feel and function like your own. Many people find that implants have changed their lives. Being able to confidently eat apples, steak, corn on the cob is much more pleasing than being limited to soft foods. Because the dental implant replicates the missing tooth, your bone and gums can remain healthy. Your face and profile will look natural. Your smile will look incredible.

WHAT HAPPENS WITHOUT IMPLANTS?

When a tooth or teeth are missing, the supporting bone begins to deteriorate. The shrinkage of your jaw changes your appearance. It also can be difficult to replace missing teeth with dentures or dental implants once the bone has melted away.

Implants stimulate the bone and gums, therefore these structures are maintained as though you had your natural teeth.

HOW DO IMPLANTS WORK?

Dental implants are like natural teeth. There are different parts. The dental implant replaces the root of a tooth. The implant is a titanium root that is placed in the bone. Time is allowed for the bone to accept and grow around this new root. After healing, this solid anchor is ready for the crown (The part of the tooth you see n the mouth). An abutment is attached to the implant and an impression is taken for the fabrication of a custom crown. The crown looks just like a natural tooth and it is attached to the abutment. Go ahead and enjoy all the foods you crave. Keep the new teeth clean and enjoy. Feel the confidence that implants provide.

Before development of dental implants, dentures were the only alternative to replacing a missing tooth or teeth. Implants are synthetic structures that are placed in the area of the tooth normally occupied by the root. Implants are anchored to the jawbone or metal framework on the bone and act as a foundation for an artificial tooth or permanent bridge. In some cases, implants can be used to attach dentures.

Not everyone is a candidate for a dental implant. For a successful implant to take hold, a candidate must have proper bone density and have a strong immune system.

Implants are so well-designed, they mimic the look and feel of natural teeth. Implants are usually made of titanium.

In general, good candidates who have dental implants can expect high success rates with the procedure.

The procedure can take several visits. During the first visit, an anchor is placed into the jawbone and the site is allowed to heal for several weeks or months. This gives your tissue time to grow around the anchor to more firmly hold it in place.During a follow-up visit, an artificial, natural-looking tooth is fitted over the implanted anchor.
